OK, I guess I was going to wait until thing were certain – like officially decided.
But, you know what? We don’t have time for that.
As is well documented in this diary by Kossack Shane Hensinger, the fanatical right-wing is already on the attack.
I’ll leave it for others at the moment to comment, organize, and co-ordinate.
My point here is this.
After all the blood spilt here on dKos in the past few months, it’s time for one thing.
It’s time to start patching up each others wounds and set our sights where they rightly belong.
We can not wait a moment longer.
I know the candidate is not officially decided. We’ll still have to spend some time fighting the little fights.
I know there is great anger on all sides. We’ll still have to spend some time reining it in away from our compatriots.
I know there is great concern over recent behavior here (that’s me, by the way). We’ll still have to deal with perceived excesses against our friends and assume it will halt once "it’s official" has been declared.
But we have no time to let it all heal naturally.
We have to start now, lest the insane right-wing and their supporters in the media pick us off one-by-one while we squabble.
The enemy approaches. Now.
It’s finally time to turn the rhetorical and strategic cannons away from the playful wargames we’ve all been having WITH each other.
Turn them, now, and set sights AGAINST the real dangers that await - the true threat of the right-wing and its smear machine.
It’d be great, and I mean this sincerely as a reasonable organizing tactic, if during the remaining primary battle-time, diaries that are about our TRUE political enemies, the above mentioned RW smear machine, had a nice handy label in the title, like "RIGHT-WING ALERT: xxx" or something.
That way, people like me will know it isn’t just an intra-party battle diary but a full-fledged salvo in the greater war.
Which means I’d be more likely to read it. And do something about the whatever was being described therein.
I know a lot of you weren't planning for this so early.
But there is no alternative.
It's time - NOW - for Daily Kos to be a thing it really IS so good at: finally pulling together and acting as one against against a looming enemy whose shadow blots out any petty differences we have amongst ourselves.
Is anyone out there with me in concept? Or do we continue the fish-slap dance?
